Helpful Hints ~ Duplicating a Photo
in PSE6 |
It is very important to keep
your original photos untouched, and only make changes to a copy. This Digital
Scrapbooks and More Helpful Hints lesson teaches how to duplicate a photo so that you can make changes to a copied photo
instead of your original photo
Step 1: Duplicating a Photo in
PSE6 |
Open Photoshop®
Elements 6 in the Editor Mode Go
to File > Open Or you can use the
keyboard shortcut by clicking on Ctrl + O |
Step 2: Choosing a Photo |
A
pop-up window will appear Then
make your way to a file (see arrow #1 in red)
that contains the photo you wish to use Choose
a photo that you would like to use by clicking on it (see
arrow #2 in red), and then click on Open (see arrow #3 in red) |
Step 3: Original Photo loaded into
Photoshop® Elements 6 |
The
photo you have chosen will appear on the screen. Note: You will be able
to see the name (or title) of your original image – this is important to
remember your original photo’s name so that when you make your copy, you will
know which photo is the original image, and which the duplicate photo is. |
Step 4: Duplicate the Original Image |
Go to
File > Duplicate. |
Step 5: Name your Duplicate Image |
A
Duplicate Image message box will pop up; and there you can give your
duplicate photo a name. Once you
are satisfied with the name, click OK. Tip: Name the
duplicate image a different name from the original (a name that you will be
able to remember!) so that you can actively make changes to the duplicate
photo and not to the original photo. |
Step 6: Now you are ready to Digital
Scrapbook using your Duplicate Image! |
You
have a duplicate photo! You can see that the photo has been duplicated
because there will be two photos at bottom of the Photoshop® Elements screen. And
if you look at the title of your duplicated image you will see that the new
image has the new name you gave to the copied photo. Note:
It is a good idea to close the original photo now so that you do not get
confused and make changes to the original photo as you begin digitally
scrapbooking. |
