I remember when I was in middle and high school and in involved in all kinds of extracurricular activities, like ice skating, track, dance, acting classes, choir… When I was younger, I even bought a book to teach myself how to draw cartoons! I was always busy learning and doing something just for me; whether it was sports, music, or an art; part of my “play-time” was building skills that made me unique!
So… when I found myself overworked (and underpaid- haha!) with my job, and overwhelmed with just my daily, every day kind of life (husband, puppies, even just general errands and housekeeping!), I wondered what ever happened to my special activities and hobbies I enjoyed so much after class?? It was easy to flip on the tube after a long day of work, chow-down on some dark chocolate, and make a nice dinner for my husband… but what could I really claim as my own? What could I consider a hobby of mine that actually required skill or talent? Whatever happened to investing in my own, personal passions??
It was then that I decided to invest in myself again. I decided to learn something new and have a passion! And you know what I discovered? …Digital Scrapbooking! In my opinion, digital scrapbooking is a form of journaling, and is one of the most enjoyable, even therapeutic, hobbies ever! Digital Scrapbooking is where you combine digital photos with digital layouts to create beautiful digital scrapbooking pages. And trust me, if you have a digital camera and like taking photos of your family, friends, pets, or even of yourself… then you’ll like digital scrapbooking!!
By learning how to digital scrapbook, you can learn how to use graphic software like Adobe® Photoshop® and Adobe® Photoshop® Elements to fix photos and make gorgeous digital art! Once I learned how to digital scrapbook, which taught me how to use graphic software programs, it even helped me at my 9-5 job! I became the “go-to” person when it came to making flyers, cards, price/product sheets, as well as editing our product photos and catalogs! It was truly unbelievable how many doors opened for me once I learned such a simple and fun hobby.
